Bon Echo Images

Dave and I are just finishing up a week of vacation, most of which we spent at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Ontario. We had a relaxing week, which included a day trip to the Haliburton area to visit some family members who were vacationing there. These are some of the sights we saw at Bon Echo.

The rugged, imposing face of Mazinaw Rock.

Another shot that includes some canoers and kayakers, just to get some perspective on how large Mazinaw Rock is.

This shot provides some perspective on how high the rock is. The photo cuts off less than halfway up the cliff.

This is an Algonquin pictograph that was painted onto the rock several hundred years ago.

Here's a broader view of Mazinaw Rock - it's a very impressive cliff.

This is a look at a small portion of Mazinaw Lake and the park from the top of the cliff. I ferried over to the cliff (a very brief ride), then hiked about two miles (round trip) up and down the cliff to see this view.

These were the trees located just behind our camp site.

And this is Dave, enjoying the sights on a perfect summer day.

Amazing Star Wars Medley

I hate to post three videos in a row, but this one is too good not to share. This medley features themes from a number of classic John Williams movie scores. If the Star Wars fans among you haven't seen this yet, get some popcorn and soda, then sit back and enjoy this.

Eye on Rome

What Dave and I learned during our brief trip to Rome is that we need to go back. Now that we've gotten the lie of the land, so to speak, we'd like to return and see things we missed the first time around, and see more details of some things to which we were briefly introduced. Here's an introduction to what we saw and did in Rome.

Eye on Venice

I finally went through the 1,992 photos that Dave and I kept (I have no idea how many we took and deleted), and have organized some of those into some semblance of order. This post will begin as our trip did, in Venice.

video

I hope this video gives you a taste of what we experienced. As Dave said to another tourist couple one night, even if you've enjoyed Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel, you still don't have any idea what Venice is like. The only way to find out is to go there and experience the real thing for yourself.
