You mean that hat sitting on top of his head doesn't qualify as a helmet?
Nice photo, it shows that people are stimulated to go out to enjoy, I recognize the guy: it's me (but I can't help to say that I am slimmer). In Holland bikers don't wear helmets, it would cause revolution, it's only recommended for children. If a biker is hit by a car it's always the car driver's fault by law, so car drivers treat them as the holy cattle in India (and many bikers behave accordingly by popping up all of a sudden before your wheels, trespassing traffic rules etc.).
In the USA many states mandate that all bikers wear helmets. They look ghastly and they're uncomfortably hot, but they also protect the head. A couple of years ago I did an "endo" (flew end-over-end end across my handlebars) off my mountainbike and landed smack on my head. If I hadn't been wearing a helmet, I probably would have gotten a nasty head injury. Now I just have any ugly scar on my knee.
We need to get our bikes cleaned up and ready for use.
