Spring is Coming!

I found this guy and a bunch of his friends digging for worms in the park this afternoon. The ice is melting off the pond, the birds are coming out - spring must be on the way!

When I was at Asbury last week it was bitter cold, but there were Robins everywhere. I was coming out of Beeson one day going over to the student center for dinner, and it was like a scene out of "The Birds." There were at least a hundred flapping away as I walked on the footpath.

Spring??? Come on!! I was working at the corps today with a group of men on some repairs. They were talking about spring - that the frost will not be out of the ground until mid to late April. There sure will be no Robins for a while around here - no worms to be found. Well at least we have been enjoying a chinook over the past few days. Some of the snow has melted and there are patches of bare pavement on the street. Emily said to me yesterday that it smells like spring. But...spring is still a conscept that seems so far off. It's expected that towards the end of the week the frigid weather returns along with more snow. Spring??? Come on!!
